Reflective foil insulation is made from layers of aluminium foil surrounding a wadding or layer of wool material. Whilst there will be some resistance to conduction thanks to the air gaps between the layers of foil most of the performance of the material lies in its ability to reflect radiative heat back into the room.

Usually reflective foil is about 25mm thick and gives a very good u value for its relative thickness. After you are done cut to adjust the length and get ready to work the next layer. Reflective foil insulation installation on a roof is usually done in the ceiling attics or other spaces that separate the roof from the ceiling. Superquilt can be easily cut using multifoil scissors or a cutting knife both available in our multifoil fitting kit.

Ensure all superquilt insulation joints are overlapped by min 50mm. Also when you overlap the joints be sure to keep it to a 50 mm lap. It is easily cut and placed and reflects heat rather than absorbing it. Ensure overlaps are fully taped and sealed using thermaseal foil joining tape.
